According to Inc. magazine, companies are chosen for the list by comparing revenue growth from 2006 to 2009. Companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, independent, for-profit and not a subsidiary or division of another company. Revenues in 2006 must have been at least $80,000 and at least $2 million for 2009. The latest edition of the annual list was in Inc.’s September issue, released Aug. 24, 2010.
